Itinerary

Your adventure begins as soon as you get aboard the bus in Bucharest. Driving through the magnificent Transylvanian countryside, you will marvel at the deep green forests and the majestic Carpathian Mountains. It is no surprise that this region, its natural splendor and atmosphere, inspired Bram Stoker and countless other writers and artists.

On your journey to Bran Castle, your local Gray Line Romania guide will paint a vivid picture of Romania’s colorful, sometimes tumultuous, history. Our guides are natural storytellers who will weave together the real historical facts with the region’s fascinating pagan rituals and folklore.
Learn about Vlad the Impaler — the often-misunderstood leader that inspired Stoker’s fictional Count Dracula. Judge for yourself the line between fact and fiction, between man and myth

You will learn about Romania’s pagan myths and folklore surrounding the “strigoi,” the vampiric creatures who rise from the grave, transform into animals, and drink their victims’ blood.
You will also learn about the history of Romania, going as far back as the Crusades 700 years ago. Uncover the truth and the legends surrounding this legendary castle nestled in the epic Carpathian Mountains.

After the tour of Bran Castle, you will be taken a short drive to Brașov, where you will have two hours to have lunch and explore this authentic Romanian city.
Your guide will take you through the city, regaling you with the city’s 800 years of written history and culture.
You will visit Brasov’s beautiful Council Square, the Black Church, Rope Street, and the city’s old defensive walls.
Visit the main gates to Brasov and its impressive watchtowers. Afterward, you can enjoy free time and explore the city however you please.
Embark on your Transylvanian journey with Gray Line Romania!

Our walking tour of Bucharest's Old Town with Stefan was an absolute highlight of our trip! From the moment we met him, his easygoing and friendly demeanor made us feel instantly comfortable. His English was impeccable, and his witty jokes and storytelling truly brought the history of Bucharest to life.Stefan's knowledge of the city was superb. He took us to hidden gems and shared fascinating stories that we would have never discovered on our own. It was clear he had a genuine passion for Bucharest, and that enthusiasm was infectious. The atmosphere was incredibly enjoyable, and the entire experience felt less like a tour and more like a stroll through the city with a knowledgeable friend. What truly stood out was Stefan's dedication and effort. Even though the tour was free, he poured his heart and soul into it, demonstrating that his love for sharing Bucharest's history was his primary motivation. We left feeling enriched and with a much deeper appreciation for this beautiful city.
