The Christmas Market in Bucharest
Hohoho! It’s that lovely time of the year again – Christmas! Like everywhere in the world, Christmas is a very important and also fun holiday in Romania for kids and all adults alike. Why? Because we get to wonder at the bright colorful Christmas lights on the streets, have some time off from school or work, enjoy the presence of snow and, especially, to exchange presents.
The best place to look for presents during December in Bucharest is the Christmas Market. This year the Christmas Market in Bucharest takes place in front of the Palace of the Parliament and it features a little bit of everything: traditional products, special decorations, handmade jewellery and clothing, Romanian beverages and food, many concerts and the presence of Santa Claus himself.
The children will be thrilled to meet Santa and his elves at the market every day until December 24 between the hours 11:00 – 13:00 and 17:00 – 22:00.
At the Christmas market you will find over 100 producers from all over Romania selling authentic Romanian goods, several stalls from where you can buy typical and delicious Romanian food like sarmale (cabbage rolls), mamaliga (polenta), carnati (sauasages) or pastrama de oaie (sheep pastrami), as well as mulled wine and refreshments from fruits.
Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, as well as between 25 – 27th December, starting at 18:30 in the evening, there are concerts and dance events taking place on the stage of the Christmas Market.
You can check the exact program for these concerts here: The Christmas Market in Bucharest
The Christmas Market in Bucharest is open every day from 1 – 27 December at Piata Constitutiei. Access is free to everyone. See you there and a merry Christmas to all!
